1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the L.D. Movers website (ldmovers.co.za) and any moving, furniture removal, or office relocation services you book with us ("Services"). By submitting a quote request, accepting a quote, or engaging our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our website or Services.

2. Our Services

L.D. Movers provides furniture removal and moving services across Gauteng, including:

  • Residential (house) moves
  • Office relocations
  • Loading and unloading services

The specific scope of work for your move will be confirmed in your quote and, where applicable, any written booking confirmation.

3. Quotes & Estimates

Quotes are prepared based on the information and inventory you provide to us via our website, WhatsApp, phone, or email. Quotes are estimates and may be adjusted if:

  • Additional goods are added after the quotation has been accepted
  • The actual volume or space required exceeds the information provided
  • Access differs from the information supplied, including stairs, lifts, long carries, restricted access or inadequate parking
  • Shuttle vehicles or additional labour are required
  • Hoisting over balconies, through windows or by other unconventional means becomes necessary
  • Waiting time is incurred due to delays beyond the control of L.D. Movers
  • Furniture requires disassembly or reassembly that was not included in the original quotation

4. Booking & Deposits

A booking is only confirmed once we have agreed on the scope of work, date, and price with you. A booking is only confirmed once the required deposit has been received and cleared in our bank account. The balance is payable in accordance with Section 8.

5. Your Responsibilities

To help us provide an accurate quote and a smooth move, you agree to:

  • Provide a complete and accurate inventory of items to be moved. Failure to disclose goods may result in delays, additional charges or rescheduling where the allocated vehicle cannot safely accommodate the load
  • Ensure that both the collection and delivery premises are ready at the agreed time for loading and unloading. This includes ensuring that keys are available, previous occupants have vacated the premises, lifts (where applicable) have been booked, access is unrestricted, and all necessary arrangements have been made to avoid delays. If our crew is delayed due to circumstances beyond L.D. Movers' control, waiting time will be charged at the rate stated in your quotation
  • Disclose any items of unusually high value, fragility, or sentimental importance before the move
  • Ensure all cupboards, drawers, refrigerators, freezers and similar appliances are empty before loading unless otherwise agreed
  • Ensure safe and reasonable access to both the collection and delivery premises (parking, lifts, stairwells, permits where required)
  • Be present, or have an authorised representative present, at both collection and delivery to oversee the move
  • Inspect the premises before our crew leaves the property to ensure that no items intended for removal have been left behind
  • Inspect the vehicle before it departs after unloading to ensure that all your belongings have been removed. L.D. Movers cannot accept responsibility for items left in the vehicle once it has departed
  • Personally retain custody of cash, jewellery, important documents, and other irreplaceable valuables — these should not be packed with items for our crew to move
  • Arrange your own insurance cover for items of high value, where you require additional protection beyond what is described in Section 7

6. Our Responsibilities

We will:

  • Provide an experienced moving crew to load, transport, and offload your belongings with reasonable care and skill
  • Communicate promptly with you regarding your booking, scheduling, and any changes
  • Handle your belongings professionally, in line with standard industry practice for furniture removal

We may use our employees, agents or approved subcontractors to perform all or part of the Services where necessary. Any such persons will be bound by these Terms and will be expected to provide the same standard of care and professionalism as L.D. Movers.

7. Liability & Insurance

While we take reasonable care in handling your belongings, moving inherently carries some risk of damage. Our liability is limited as follows:

  • We are not liable for damage to items that were not disclosed to us prior to the move, or that were pre-packed by you in a manner that concealed their condition or fragility
  • We cannot accept responsibility for damage to the contents of cartons or containers packed by the customer
  • We are not responsible for damage to internal mechanical, electrical or electronic components
  • We are not liable for loss or damage to cash, jewellery, important documents, passports, identity documents, firearms licences, title deeds, wills, laptops containing business data, external hard drives or backup media data stored on electronic devices, or other items you were responsible for keeping in your own custody under Section 5
  • We are not liable for damage arising from normal or pre-existing wear and tear, defects, deterioration, structural weaknesses or items that are inherently fragile or structurally unsound
  • Where hoisting over balconies, through windows or by any other unconventional means is requested, such work is performed entirely at the customer's own risk. L.D. Movers will exercise reasonable care but accepts no liability for damage arising from the hoisting process
  • We are not liable for delays or losses caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control (see Section 10)

Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or other applicable South African law.

Goods in Transit Insurance

L.D. Movers carries Goods in Transit Insurance providing cover of up to R45,000 per load, subject to the terms, conditions and exclusions of our insurer. This does not include handling damage, only damage caused by road accident while in transit.

Customers requiring cover in excess of R45,000 may arrange additional insurance through L.D. Movers at an additional premium of 4.5% of the declared value of the entire load. A detailed inventory of all the items to be insured, together with their replacement values, must be submitted to us before the move to enable the insurer to assess and approve the additional cover.

The contents of cartons or boxes will only be covered where the cartons have been professionally packed by L.D. Movers. Where cover for the contents of cartons is required, a detailed inventory of the contents and their declared values must also be submitted to our insurer before the move.

Any claim for loss or damage when insured for all risk must be reported to L.D. Movers in writing within 48 hours of delivery and should, where possible, be accompanied by photographs and any supporting information required to assess the claim.

8. Payment Terms

Full payment is due immediately before unloading commences at the delivery address, unless otherwise agreed in writing. Payment on the day of the move must be made in cash to the driver. EFT payments on the moving day are not accepted — EFT payments must reflect in our account before the move commences.

Prices quoted are in South African Rand and, unless stated otherwise, are inclusive of labour as described in your quote.

9. Cancellations & Rescheduling

Deposits are non-transferable except where L.D. Movers agrees otherwise in writing.

  • Cancellation fees may apply where insufficient notice is given. If the booking is cancelled more than 4 days before the scheduled removal date, your deposit may be refunded or transferred to a new booking at our discretion
  • If the booking is cancelled 4 days or less before the scheduled removal date, the full deposit will be forfeited
  • If the booking is cancelled on the scheduled day of the move, the full quoted amount will become payable, as our vehicle, crew and resources have been reserved exclusively for your booking

We will always try to accommodate reasonable rescheduling requests where possible.

If L.D. Movers is unable to carry out the move due to a mechanical breakdown of the booked vehicle or another circumstance within our control, any deposit paid will be refunded in full or, at your option, applied to a rescheduled booking.

10. Delays & Circumstances Beyond Our Control

We will not be liable for delays or failure to perform our Services due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to traffic, load shedding, adverse weather, road closures, strikes, vehicle breakdowns, or restricted access at the collection or delivery premises. We will make reasonable efforts to communicate any expected delay to you as soon as possible.

11. Prohibited Items

We do not transport the following, and cannot accept liability for such items if included without our knowledge:

  • Firearms, ammunition, and explosives
  • Hazardous, flammable, or toxic materials (e.g. gas cylinders, unsealed chemicals, paint, paint thinners, petrol, diesel and fireworks)
  • Illegal goods or substances
  • Perishable food items
  • Live animals or plants, unless specifically agreed in advance

12. Website Use

Our quote request form is intended for genuine enquiries about our Services. You agree not to submit false information, attempt to bypass our security or rate-limiting controls, or use automated tools to submit requests. We reserve the right to decline service to anyone we reasonably believe is misusing our website.

13. Intellectual Property

All content on this website — including text, graphics, and logos — is the property of L.D. Movers unless otherwise stated, and may not be reproduced without our prior written consent.

14. Photographs & Marketing

L.D. Movers may take photographs of the loading process, vehicle or completed move for record-keeping, training, insurance or marketing purposes. We will not intentionally publish photographs containing identifiable personal information or images of customers without consent.

15. Right to Refuse Service

L.D. Movers reserves the right to refuse or suspend the Services where the working environment is unsafe, abusive, illegal, or poses a risk to our employees, customers or property.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from these Terms or our Services will be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of our website or Services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
